Memorial Day

Memorial Day - In the United States, Memorial Day is a public holiday when people honor the memory of Americans who have died in wars. Memorial Day is celebrated in most states on the last Monday in May.

Many of you will be having a get together, going to the beach, or pool. Others will just take the day off from work to relax around the house, while many will have to work. No matter what you are doing on this Memorial Day, please take a few moments to honor those who have sacrificed the most so you can be free to do the things you want. From the Revolutionary War to today, men and women have fought and died for our great nation.

Also please say a prayer for the active duty soldiers that they may be safe wherever they are.

I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.

NATHAN HALE

And they who for their country die shall fill an honored grave, for glory lights the soldier’s tomb, and beauty weeps the brave.

JOSEPH RODMAN DRAKE

On thy grave the rain shall fall from the eyes of a mighty nation!

THOMAS WILLIAM PARSONS
